Western Michigan University
Abstract:
Sample survey students conducted mini-surveys this summer.
The projects provide an opportunity for the student to reflect
on issues regarding measurement, sample selection,
and sources of potential bias. These three 15-minute presentations
were selected for their diversity in sampling methodology, besides
being interesting and educational.
Tess Kolp (BS Math) conducted a Twitter-based survey on
opinions about potential rule changes in major league baseball.
Christopher Shank (PhD EMR) will talk about the survey on
post-graduation activities of WMU students. Brittany Hall (BS Stat) will
discuss a sample of job announcements that come up when you type
"statistics" and "data science" in job-search websites.

All statistics graduate students are expected to attend.
