Analysis Projects in Spatial and Survival Data

Spatial Analysis: This spatial dataset consists of several soil chemistry properties measured on a regular grid with 10 x 25 points spaced by 5 meters. The response variable is soil pH of water. A second-order trend model is fitted after a preliminary exploratory data analysis is employed. An appropriate variogram is fitted to assess the small-scale variation and anisotropy is also assessed. Kriging is used to predict soil pH at water concentrations. The dataset is divided into an analysis set and a secondary set for cross-validation.

Survival Analysis: The survival data consists of status of patients with advanced lung cancer from North Central Cancer Treatment Group. Survival rates of patients are assessed for gender and age group differences. Survival plots and logrank tests are provided to see significant differences in the survival rates. Also, Cox Proportional Hazards model is fitted to describe the relationship of time to death of advanced lung cancer patients and the variables that significantly affect it.

All statistics students are expected to attend.
