An analysis of time to reinfection of patients with sexually transmitted diseases

Casey Jelsema
Department of Statistics
Western Michigan University

Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are a major problem among certain groups, posing significant adverse effects on a person's health up to and including death. Gonorrhea and clamydia are two STDs which are non-lethal, but if left untreated may lead to other complications such as sterility. However, both of these may often be asymptomatic, meaning an individual may carry and pass the disease unknowingly. This study examines several behavioral factors that may be involved in the transmission of these diseases.

This analysis was conducted as requirement of a doctoral preliminary examination in the Statistics Department. The paper will also be shown and discussed. All statistics students are expected to attend.
