Abstract:
For a decade The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) program collected considerable clinic-pathologic annotation data in association with multi-platform molecular profiles of >11,000 human tumors across 33 different tumor types. These data are available to researchers through direct download or multiple research interfaces. Yet, to translate molecular profiles into clinical action, it is necessary to determine their relationship to clinical features and outcomes. This talk will focus on the recent work a team of clinicians and data analysts who have developed a standardized dataset named the TCGA Pan-Cancer Clinical Data Resource (TCGA-CDR)*.

After resolution of over 1000 data issues, four standard clinical outcomes endpoints were transparently derived. Usage recommendations for each endpoint and cancer type were also provided. While analytical challenges remain for those using these data, we expect that this standardized data resource will improve interpretability and reproducibility of molecular-clinical studies going forward.
