Abstract:
Research survey serves as an important instrument for gathering information of opinions, beliefs and attitudes in the social science field. Hundreds of times each day, there are researchers or social workers who conduct surveys. The goal of the survey design is to collect quality data, and to pursue a higher survey response rate. A higher response rate is important to ensure that the results represent the target population and that the survey performs as intended. In the presentation, we will introduce the tailored survey design method. Then we will discuss how to utilize social exchange concepts to motivate potential respondents, and how to make the choices of the survey modes. Finally, we will provide examples to illustrate the strategies of how to achieve a higher survey response rate.
