Abstract:
This colloquium will consist of students reporting on data analysis internships and independent study projects.
Audrey Gibson (Data Science) will report on her experience as a data science intern at the Upjohn Institute. She will talk about the history behind the institute, their various research focus, skills acquired at the internship, and projects she contributed to.
Ahmad Talafha (MS Stat) will discuss a project
pedicting health care expenditure using penalized regression.
The basic rationale and differences behind ridge, lasso, and elastic net regression
will be discussed before applying to health care data.
