Preparations for Installation of SAS 9.1.3

  • Step 1: Create a folder named SAS Installation Data in My Documents

  • Step 2: Open a web browser and retrieve the license file from http://www.wmich.edu/itc/stat_software/stat-licenses.html

  • a: Scroll down and click on the SAS link; when prompted, use your Go WMU username and password to login.

  • b: Click the link to the license file then click your cursor somewhere on the webpage that displays the license file.

  • c: Press Ctrl-A to select all the text.

  • d: Press Ctrl-C to copy the selected text.

  • e: From your start menu, select Programs>Accesories>Notepad.

  • f: Click your cursor in the Notepade window.

  • g: Press Ctrl-V to paste.

  • h: Click File>Save as>

  • i: Browse to your SAS Installation Data folder.

  • j: Save as sas91_258570.txt.


    • Installing SAS 9.1.3

  • Step 1: Insert the Setup Disk

  • Step 2: SAS needs the license file to install. At the first screen select the "File" option, click Next.

  • Step 3: Continue the installation by clicking the Next button until you see Language Selection. Make sure that English is checked.

  • Step 4: Click the Next button until you see the Select Components window, this part is IMPORTANT.

  • a: Click the "+" sign next to SAS 9.1.3.

  • b: Scroll down and UNCHECK the SAS/GIS procedures, this is very important.

  • Step 5: Continue to install the software and insert disks as requested

  • Step 6: At some point, SAS will want to register some file types, click the Yes button and continue.

  • Step 7: It take s very little time to install SAS/Secure. You are eat the end of the process when SAS prompts you to for the Setup Disk to end the installation.


    • Important Update Regarding Microsoft Runtime Components

    Some users have reported a problem installing Microsoft Runtime Components 7.0 during the System Requirements Verification procedure.

    NOTE: Under Windows XP, Service Pack 1 is required.
